I hear this all the time:
“Madi, I need to do this first.”
“I need to do that first.”
“I can’t show up halfway.”
“I can’t fake it till I make it in this industry.”
Says who?
The influencer who’s been doing this for six years and used her husband’s hard-earned money so it wouldn’t look like she started at zero too?
News flash: she did start at zero.
We all do.
It’s okay to figure it out as you go.
It’s okay to start and pivot.
What’s not okay is sitting still.
I like to think of it like this: what is the most important role we can have in our lifetime? Parenting, right? (If you didn’t say parenting then you aren’t a parent, but still stay with me).
Even before that baby is born we have a job: to protect that baby, then they are born and protecting them gets harder; and it’s not enough to just protect them.
But after centuries, we still leave the hospital not really knowing what to do. We wing that and we have a little life in our hands.
If we can wing that – why can’t you wing showing up for your business?
So if you’re waiting to feel ready before you show up, here’s the truth:
You don’t need perfect branding or a flawless website. You don’t even need the right camera (yes that’s coming from a photographer), and you can figure out the right logo or right aesthetic later too, if that is slowing you down.

Here’s what you really need:
You need clarity on who you’re helping and why you care.
You need a messy first version.
You need consistency more than confidence.
You need to be willing to be seen before you feel impressive.
You need to start talking about what you do – even if it makes your voice shake.Your voice WILL shake if you’re talking to the right people, but it won’t last forever.
You need to let your business be a beginner.
You need to give yourself permission to grow in public.
You need to trade perfection for progress.
Now that was a long list, so take a deep breath…you’ve got this!
Because showing up imperfectly will always beat planning perfectly.
And momentum doesn’t come from waiting.
It comes from moving.
So post the thing.
Launch the offer.
Share the behind-the-scenes.
Say what you stand for.
Not when you’re “ready.”
Now.
If this hit you, don’t let it end here. Choose one small way to show up today—post the thing, share the idea, take the messy step. And if you want support while you do it, that’s exactly what The Unpolished Edit is for.
Come hang out with me and let’s build something real, together.
